DAY 1: Arrival
Welcome to Iceland!  Upon arrival at Reykjavik/Keflavik Airport, make your way through customs and outside of the arrival hall and look for the coaches marked “Flybus.” You have a Flybus Plus ticket, so upon presenting your voucher, you will be redirected to a smaller shuttle that will take you to your hotel. The remainder of your day is at leisure to relax and enjoy Reykjavik!  Overnight stay at Icelandair Hotel Reykjavík Natura.

DAY 2: Wonders of North Iceland - Akureyri
This morning, you’ll be catching a flight to Akureyri, the capital of the North (transfers to the domestic airport are not included, but it is a very short taxi ride away).  Upon arrival, and after lunch, you’ll embark on a guided Exclusive Art & Design Walk walking tour of Akureyri, with stops at artists’ workshops. Enjoy the exclusivity of visiting some of Akureyri’s local artists, where they will welcome you into their workshops, interact with you and explain their work. You’ll proceed through Akureyri Centre, visiting workshops and handcraft stores with north Icelandic designs and local products of various types and materials.  The last stop will be at a small "retro" café, where we’ll relax over some local beverages.

Please note: No two Exclusive Art & Design Walk tours are ever the same. Various local artists are guiding this tour, and each of them is unique and has a different story to tell, different background and different education. By adding their personal touch to each tour, you will never know what to expect - but always be prepared to be amazed!  Overnight stay at Icelandair Hotel Akureyri.

DAY 3: Game of Thrones Tour
This is your chance to visit the "Land beyond the Wall" and see it brought to life with tales of the "Seven Kingdoms" by local guide Jon Thor Benediktsson, who also guided the Game of Thrones crew on set during filming in this area. Today you will be entering the other-worldly landscapes of Lake Mývatn where the scenes for “North of the Wall" were filmed. Now it becomes apparent why Game of Thrones production crew were drawn to this area as the majestic Waterfall of the Gods, Godafoss, greets you. According to the Icelandic Sagas the waterfall draws its name from Þorgeir of Ljósavatn throwing his statues of the heathen gods into the falls when Iceland converted to Christianity in the year 1000.

Your next stop will be the magical places where the latest series of Game of Thrones were filmed. Here you can try to relive the action in the locations seen in the series. Hopefully you will not encounter any White Walkers, but with Iceland's rich folklore, the story-telling guide will boost your imagination with tales of trolls and Hidden People alongside curious facts about what happened behind the scenes of filming.

After a day of beautiful waterfalls, volcanos, unusual lava rock formations, steaming hot springs, bubbling mud pools and mysterious landscapes, you'll end the day with a splash at Myvatn Nature Baths. It’s not a filming location for Game of Thrones, but the calming waters relax you while imagining to be surrounded by other Free Folk. With a bit of luck the Northern Lights will entertain you during your soak, right before returning to Akureyri.  Overnight stay at Icelandair Hotel Akureyri.

Highlights:
  • Visit the astonishing film locations showcased in Game of Thrones series three.
  • Visit the areas where Night's Watchmen, including Samwell Tarly and Lord Commander Mormont, are attacked by the White Walkers.
  • Walk the land that Jon Snow, Ygritte and the Free Folk cross to reach the Wall.
  • Visit the cave where Jon Snow and Ygritte have their first intimate romantic encounter.
  • Learn about how the Free Folk, like the ancient Vikings, lived and survived in their harsh environment.

DAY 4:  Akureyri – Afternoon flight to Reykjavík
Enjoy a relaxing morning in the charming town of Akureyri, the center of culture, education and leisure activities in North Iceland. With a population of about 17,000, the town is by far the largest outside the Reykjavík capital area.

Akureyri boasts a wide range of attractions and activities – including a variety of museums, the world’s most northerly botanic garden, hiking trails, and much more! That afternoon you’ll need to make your way to the Akureyri airport for your afternoon flight back to Reykjavik. Upon arrival into the Reykjavik domestic airport, take a taxi for the quick trip back to your hotel, for your last night in Iceland, at the Icelandair Hotel Reykjavík Natura.

Day 5: Departure
Your Game of Thrones adventure comes to an end today! If your flight is in the afternoon, use your last moments to walk along the harbor seafront and breathe the fresh Atlantic breeze. Please be ready in your hotel lobby approximately 4 hours before the departure of your return flight, for your bus transfer back to Keflavik International Airport.
