Europe is a region rich in history, and Ireland is one of its most historic destinations. In this amazing package from Great Value Vacations you will experience history up close and personal, while enjoying the richness of its countryside.
Upon arriving in Dublin you'll pick up your rental car and head north along the east coast to Drogheda in County Louth. Here you will spend your first night in the 4-star d Hotel, a modern property with the level of service expected of a fine European hotel. While here you can prepare for the rest of your journey, take a walk around the beautiful city and enjoy a meal in the nearby Wm Cairnes & Sons Gastropub, or one of the other fine restaurants around the city.
On day two you'll make your way to Galway, and the 4-star Clayton Hotel. Your two days in Galway will allow you to explore the wonderful culture of arts that has made this city a beacon for fans of music, poetry and the stage - and travel to Connemara if you desire. For the fans of James Joyce, be sure to stop by the Bohermore Cemetery and pay your respects to this greatest of Ireland’s authors.
On day four you'll head to Kilkenny for two nights at the 4-star Newpark Hotel, located on the edge of the city on 40 beautiful acres of parkland. From here you are free to explore the area and such local sites as the Rock of Cashel, or perhaps stop by historic Gowran Park and place a bet on the races. Enjoy the gourmet elegance at Gulliver’s Restaurant, or a pub lunch at Kyteler's Inn in the pedestrian area of Kilkenny's walled medieval city.
Finally, drive east to Wicklow for two nights at the 5-star Ritz–Carlton Powerscourt, located just 16 miles south of Dublin. You can visit the Irish capital (a stop at Temple Bar or Trinity College to view the Book of Kells should be on your bucket list for this city) during the day, and then enjoy the 30,000 square-foot luxury spa before dining in the Gordon Ramsay signature restaurant in the evening.
