Hotel Location
Aran Islands (County Galway): A 40-minute boat ride from the mainland into the Galway Bay takes visitors to the Aran Islands, a collection of rugged, limestone islands that contain several Iron Age forts and other attractions. The main draw is Dun Aengus, a stone fort perched in the towering cliffs of the island of Inishmor.

Bunratty Castle and Folk Park (County Clare): The 15th-century Bunratty Castle is the best-restored example of a medieval fortress in Ireland. The Folk Park serves up a living museum showing what rural life was like in the 1800s, with authentic reconstructions of farmhouses, cottages and shops.

Cliffs of Moher (County Clare): One of the most popular landmarks in Ireland, the Cliffs of Moher rise vertically 700 feet over a constantly churning sea. Take in the view of Galway Bay from O'Brien's Tower (it sits dead center in the middle of the five-mile long cliffs). On clear days it is possible to see all the way to the Aran Islands. On the hillside is a modest visitor center, and there are several different hikes for nature enthusiasts.

Connemara National Park (County Galway): The wilds of Connemara National Park include mountains that are part of the famous Twelve Bens range. There are trails to hike plus the attraction of resident Connemara ponies.

Dublin Castle: In the heart of historic Dublin is the Dublin Castle, which dates to the 13th century and was built on a site previously settled by the Vikings. The castle has served as a military fortress, a prison, treasury, courts of law and the seat of English Administration in Ireland for 700 years. Where the present garden sits was once the site of the famous Black Pool or 'Dubh Linn,’ from which the city gets its name.

Galway Atlantaquaria (County Galway): The National Aquarium of Ireland is a kid-friendly place that is home to 170 species of marine and freshwater sealife. Kids can touch creatures including rays and starfish.

Guinness Storehouse: You simply cannot leave Dublin without stopping by the St James's Gateway brewery, the facility that has been pouring out the black stuff since 1759. The number one visitor attraction in the country, the Guinness Storehouse is located in a former Guinness fermentation plant. After learning everything there is to know about Guinness, visitors receive a complimentary beer in the glass-enclosed Gravity Bar at the top of the building, which offers a magnificent 360-degree view of the city.

Ha'penny Bridge: This striking cast iron pedestrian bridge crosses the River Liffey, an iconic landmark and one of the most photographed sights in Dublin. Some 27,000 people walk across the bridge on a daily basis. The name comes from the halfpenny toll levied on all users of the bridge up until 1919.

Kilkenny Castle and city walls:  The castle is ornamentally decorated and is truly a vision of history for Ireland.  Part of the National Art Gallery is on display within the castle along with visitors being able to explore the inside and the gardens on the city side of the castle.  The Kilkenny Walls surrounded the town of Kilkenny and there are only a few remnants remaining, including Talbot Tower.

Killarney National Park (County Kerry): The mountainous Killarney National Park includes the McGillycuddy's Reeks, the highest mountain range in Ireland (rising to a height of over 3,280 feet). At the base of the mountains are the lakes of Killarney. Hikers and cyclists can explore a network of paths throughout the park as well as the majestic Torc Waterfall. The park also encompasses a 15th-century castle (Ross Castle), a Victorian mansion (Muckross House), and a 15th-century Franciscan friary (Muckross Abbey).

Kilmainham Gaol: A tour of this Victorian prison that dates to 1796 not only covers the penal history of the building, but also the heroic and tragic events that led to Ireland's emergence as a modern nation. Leaders of several rebellions were detained and executed here, and the dramatic audio tour is sure to fascinate any visitor (including Ireland history buffs and novices).

Skelligs Islands (County Kerry): Visible for much of the drive along the Ring of Kerry, the small, steep Skelligs Islands are famed for a 16th-century Christian monastery perched 525 feet above see level that has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Nature enthusiasts come to the island for the thriving seabird populations, including gannets and puffins.

Trinity College: Founded in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth I, Trinity College was Ireland's first university. Today the campus dominates Dublin's city center, with the magnificent bell tower rising nearly 100-feet tall and the university's most famous landmark. Also notable is the college library, a building that contains over a million books, the main tourist draw being the Book of Kells, a gorgeously illustrated original manuscript from the 9th century.
