This 8-night vacation combines the charm and majesty of two beautiful French country chateaux, with the culture, glamour and incredible sights of Paris!
Imagine large expanses of totally tranquil woodland surrounding a château with a moat, stone bridges, turrets and facades enlivened with niches, lacy balconies and sculptures – this is your first stop, at the Chateau d’Esclimont. You'll pick up your 6-day rental car at the airport upon arrival in Paris, and make your way to this 4-star gem for the next three nights (just a one-hour scenic drive from the airport). This former dwelling of the La Rochefoucauld family is a jewel of the Renaissance and puts you within easy reach of many area attractions, including Versailles, the Cathedral of Chartres (registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List), and of course Paris.
The next stop on your journey is the Chateau de Gilly, the former residence of the Cistercian Monks - located at the heart of the finest wine producing area in Burgundy, between Dijon and Beaune. You will spend your next three nights in this magnificent hotel, which provides the luxury of a large hotel with the intimacy of a small inn. All rooms have a garden view along with other fine features such as handcrafted wood paneling, exquisite wall coverings, and some even have stone fireplaces! In the 14th century wine cellar is the Le Clos Prieur restaurant; featuring vaulted ceiling supported by stone pillars that add to the subtle ambiance. The cuisine, matched perfectly with regional wines, provides a memorable gastronomic experience not to be forgotten.
You'll then make your way back to Paris to spend your last few days absorbing the history, culture and ‘joie de vivre’ of this incredible European capital (upon arrival in Paris, you will return your rental car at a downtown location near your hotel). Enjoy the city's renowned museums, fashionable shops, epicurean delights and iconic sights while staying at the Hotel Aviatic Saint Germain - a highly unique Left Bank boutique hotel with a romantic atmosphere, an elegant designer edge and all the authentic charm of a fine Parisian home.
