Madrid tends to be quiet in November, before the bustle of the holiday season. But there’s still a lot to see and do without the usual crowds. For example, you can attend one of the finest art shows in the world, The Feriarte. You'll find heart-pounding excitement at a horse race, or you can dance the night away at a flamenco show. Here are ten activities to fill your Madrid trip with fun!
1. Madrid International Jazz Festival
With roughly 100 concerts to choose from, there’s no shortage of ways to jazz up your Madrid trip! November 13-December 1, check out this popular music festival. Events are held city-wide, but most take place at Conde Duque Cultural Centre and the Fernán Gómez Theatre.
2. The Feriarte
This annual event is a huge deal in Madrid! Artists from across the world gather to sell fine, high-quality artwork. You can discover antiquities, ornamental art, and paintings from November 16-24.
3. Festival de Otoño of the Comunidad de Madrid
Join in Madrid’s 37th Autumn Festival! Through **November,** celebrate by taking in all the culture Madrid has to offer. From theater to dance, you’ll find a beautiful show to suit any taste. Flamenco shows, gravity-defying circus acts, and Spanish operettas are all part of this exciting festival.

4. La Almudena
On November 9, celebrate La Almudena. It’s the celebration of the Virgen de la Almudena, the patroness of Madrid. This local holiday begins with a mass in the Plaza Mayor. Then a procession led by Madrileños makes the journey back to the Cathedral.

5. Alcalá de Henares Film Festival - Alcine
From November 8-15, check out this cool film festival! The festival has helped to launch the film career of some of Spain’s biggest directors, like Alejandro Ameábar and Isabel Coixet. Discover short films and features. The venues are all over Madrid.

6. Poetics of Democracy
This art exhibit focuses on two important events in Spanish art history. Explore 1976 Venice Biennale and urban Spain in the mid-’70s. Wander through this beautiful showing until November 25.
7. Flamenco Dancing at Corral de la Morería
Flamenco shows are a big part of Spanish culture. These upbeat dance shows take place at ‘tablaos’ all over Madrid. They’re the perfect addition to an exciting date night! Taste four courses of authentic Spanish food in the epicenter of Madrid Old Town. Shows run nightly through November.
8. Hans Rudolf Gerstenmaier Donation
Through November, The Prado Museum is displaying eleven works from Hans Rudolf Gerstenmaier. These works of 19th and 20th-century art by Hermen Anglada-Camarasa, Eduardo Chicharro, Ignacio Zuloaga, and Joaquín Mir are not to be missed.
9. Madrid Pen Show
Don't write your postcards until you visit the Madrid pen show! They offer new pens, vintage pens, fine stationary, and inks just to name a few things. This event takes place November 15-17 at the Hotel Miguel Angel.
10. 5th Annual Madrid Horse Week
There are activities for everyone at this highly anticipated Madrid event. Visit the Pony Park or Horse Fair with little ones. Or check out the Warm Up area where you can watch athletes prepare for the big event! Festivities are from November 23-26.
