The capital of the Tuscany region, Florence, is brimming with places to be explored. You may find that there are fewer tourists about, as November tends to be a slow month. However, there's still plenty to do! You can watch the Firenze Marathon runners race through Florence. Save money by touring museums on the first Sunday of the month, when state-run museums are free. Find ten activities to enhance your next November trip to Florence.
1. Sunday at the Museum
On the first Sunday of each month, Italian state-run museums are free! On November 3, stop into any number of museums, including Museo Archeologico, Gli Uffizi, and Galleria dell’Accademia.
November 8-10, head to Figline for Autumnia. This huge fair features all kinds of vendors and exhibitors. Agriculture, Environment, and Food are the themes of this festival. Don’t miss the cooking shows and shopping! And for artisan treats of all kinds, this festival is sure to deliver.
3. Firenze Marathon
November 24, cheer on runners as they race in the Firenze Marathon! This 42km race winds through the heart of Florence, passing by Cathedral Square, Piazza della Signoria, and Ponte Vecchio. The race begins and ends in Duomo.
4. Florence Tattoo Convention
If you’re looking for something unusual to do, or if you’re a tattoo enthusiast, check out the Florence Tattoo Convention. November 8-10, talk to tattoo artists and learn all about this interesting art form.
5. Florence Walking Tour
On November 18, join in a morning tour of Florence. The tour begins at 10am at Duomo. You’ll stroll by the Piazza della Signoria and the Vassarian Corridor. The tour continues over the Ponte Vecchio bridge (one of the most Instagrammable places in Italy) and ends at the Palazzo Pitti.
6. Collezionisti in Piazza
Take a long walk through the vendors of the Antiques in the Square on November 3. Shop vintage antiques, clothing, and much more!
7. Notre Dame de Paris Firenze
Notre Dame de Paris comes to Italy! Experience this spettacolare show based on the Victor Hugo novel of the same name. This show plays November 28-December 1 at the Nelson Mandela Forum.
8. Pietro Aretino and Renaissance Art at Uffizi
Celebrate the opening of Pietro Aretino and Renaissance Art beginning November 26. This event takes place at the world-famous Uffizi museum.
9. Opera de Firenze
This acclaimed opera is playing select nights in November. Discover the beautiful Opera de Firenze and enjoy an Italian opera.
10. LIT/TheFLR Party
On November 8, experience Italian literature like never before. With poems and stories translated in both Italian and English, you can enjoy a peaceful evening with book-loving locals.
