7 Awesome Events in Rome this August

1. Feast of San Lorenzo

Celebrate the feast of San Lorenzo on August 10! San Lorenzo was the god of firemen, bakers, chefs, and other jobs involving fire. You’ll see fireworks and hoards of people celebrating in the streets!

2. Madonna of the Snow Celebration

August 5, celebrate the Madonna of the Snow! In the 4th century, snow fell in Rome in the middle of August. The miraculous event is re-enacted each year, with a play and artificial snow!

3. Ferragosto (Assumption Day)

August 15 is Assumption Day, a national Italian holiday. While many shops close for the day, there are often dance parties and music festivals to discover around the city.

4. Teatro dell’Opera at the Baths of Caracalla

Take a trip to the incredible Baths of Caracalla! Teatro dell’Opera puts on shows each summer here. See Nabucco through August 9, Carmen through August 2, and Tosca through August 8.

5. Stargazing

Through August, attend Concerti del Tempietto! Take in classical music from composers like Bach, Brahms, Mozart, and many more. Each night in August a different composer is featured.
