Reasons Why We LOVE Cancun

By Kenya Barrett

Want to know what makes this city great? Read on to learn a few reasons why we love Cancun!

Endless activities

Cancun has a reputation for being one of the liveliest beach destinations on the planet. For outdoor enthusiasts, you can enjoy visiting natural parks including Xcaret Park or Xel Ha Ecological Park to explore jungles or zip-lining through the tropical rainforests.

Likewise, travelers can enjoy water sport activities such as snorkeling, jet skiing, parasailing, and catamaran rides. Party-goers can visit the city center and experience its nightlife, one of the many things Cancun is known for. Bars and restaurants are at every corner of the town and welcome anyone who wants to have a good time!

Visit beautiful beaches

With close proximity to the Caribbean Sea, Cancun is filled with beautiful beaches. While some are award-winning due to their cleanliness and array of activities, others are popular simply because of their seclusion from the public.

A few great beaches in Cancun to explore include the Playa Norte, Playa Delfines, and Playa Chac Mool. If you drive a few minutes south of Cancun, you’ll discover the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve – a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to Mexico’s best-preserved beaches.

Delicious cuisine

Mexican cuisine is some of the tastiest in the world, and you can experience tons of it in Cancun, where many eateries retain authentic recipes. If you’re a seafood lover, the options are even better since Cancun is located right on the Yucatan Peninsula that borders the Caribbean Sea.

With some of the top chefs situated in Cancun, you’re bound to find a bunch of top-tier restaurants that serve worldwide cuisines – or you can simply enjoy traditional foods such as tacos, empanadas, or mole at local spots in town.

Rich in history and culture

While Cancun is renowned for its beaches and nightlife, the town has a rich historical background that cannot be ignored. With roots that trace back to Mayan and Colombian influences, the city has transformed artistically, musically, and culturally in recent centuries, Visitors can learn about the town’s heritage at some museums including The Mayan Museum, the Museo de Arte Popular Mexicano, and Museo Sensorial del Tequila.

Let’s not forget about some of Mexico’s famous Mayan Ruins. Two of which – El Rey and El Meco Archeological Site – are a few minutes away from the center of Cancun. Both offer an interesting perspective on the past lives of the Mayans. The most popular ruin, the Archeological Site of Xeha, is roughly two hours south near Tulum.

Affordable beach vacation

Of all the destinations one could vacation, Cancun may be one of the most affordable. With currency rates in favor of the USD, hotels, airfare, food, and even excursions don’t have to break the bank.

While many prefer an all-inclusive vacation in Cancun which relieves visitors of the stress of figuring things out, enjoying your Cancun vacation “a la-carte-style” can work out to be just as cost-effective.
