October holds many celebrations for Madrid, Spain's capital city. Whether you're there for a day or two weeks, there is something for every traveler to discover. Take a Bachata lesson, or wander through some of Madrid's finest historical sites. Here are ten experiences during October you won't want to miss!
1.The White Night Festival
On October 5 check out one of the most anticipated events Madrid has to offer! During the White Night Festival, most museums, theatres, and exhibition halls are free to tour. Join the locals in exploring Madrid’s rich history and culture.
2. Hispanic Day
This national celebration of Hispanic heritage begins October 12. The holiday celebrates the bonds formed between Europe and America. It's an amazing opportunity to see the exciting military parades attended by the King and Royal Family of Spain!

3. Brunch in the Park at Enrique Tierno Galván Park
Try an energetic Sunday brunch! Start your day by listening to DJs spin popular Spanish music. Then head over to the food trucks to start your brunch! The event has trampolines, ball games, and events for kids. The fun takes place Sundays through October 20.

4. Creativa Madrid
October 24-27, check out Creativa Madrid. This huge festival embraces all things involved in crafting. Learn about paper mache, origami, scrapbooking, and decoupage. From beaded jewelry to candles, you’ll find great souvenirs for everyone!

5. Esencia Festival
October 11-13, pack your dancing shoes! This lively celebration has dance classes, workshops, DJs, and late-night dance parties. With help from professional instructors, you’ll soon be salsaing the night away! Guides will teach Salsa and Bachata music to dancers of all skill levels.
6. Nightlife Madrid's Halloween Party
Nightlife Madrid’s annual Halloween party is a scream! Set in the center of the city, Stella Underclub has a creepy bunker-like atmosphere. Tickets are inexpensive (if you’re in costume, that is) so swing by on October 31. Soon you’ll be sipping cocktails and grooving to electro beats.
7. Their Majesties’ Retiring Room Exhibit at Museo Nacional del Prado
Take a fascinating dive into Madrid’s royal history! The exhibit takes place at one of Spain’s most acclaimed museums, the Nacional del Prado. It shows a room made for royalty during the 1820's. It includes still-lifes, floral paintings and authentic furniture, including Ferdinand VII’s toilet!

8. International Book Fair
October 2-4, discover a wealth of knowledge stored inside the international book fair. The festival features talks by authors and experts. Types of books include travel guides, magazines, periodicals, and audiobooks.
9. Halloween Fest
Not for the faint of heart, this festival is a nonstop party! October 26-28 and 31, you’ll have the chance to practice archery or watch a gladiator fight. Enjoy the greenery of the park by playing volleyball or joining a sack race. On Halloween night, enjoy a Spanish discotechque.

10. Semana de la Arquitectura or Architecture Week
If you’re visiting Madrid from September 30 to October 7, you’re in luck! Dozens of historical sites and architectural establishments are opened for the public to visit. The 16th annual festival includes a trade fair, special exhibits, and children’s workshops.
