Travel Protection Basics

Everything you need to know about Great Value Vacations' Travel Protection Plans.

Terms, conditions, exclusions, inclusions, addendums, endless pages of teeny tiny fine print...yikes. When it comes to understanding travel insurance, it can feel like you need a vacation from booking your vacation.

Take a deep breath and step away from the magnifying glass. We get it and we want to make it way easier for you to choose the plan that's right for you. Here's a rundown on GVV's trip insurance.

Variety is the spice of life

Every Great Value Vacation comes with a few options for travel insurance. In most cases, you'll be able to choose between our Basic Flexible Change Plan or our Premium Travel Protection Plan.

Before we dive into the details, here's a quick reference for our Basic and Premium plans:

About the Flexible Change Plan

Think of this as the foundation of your trip protection. Our Flexible Change Plan is automatically included in every Great Value Vacation, for free, with no action required on your part.

This coverage allows you to postpone your trip for any reason with no change fees or penalties, as long as you let us know at least 14 days before your departure date. Once you postpone, you'll receive a Travel Credit for the full amount you've already paid. Your Travel Credit is good on any trip, as long as your travel is completed within one year of your original booking date.

About the Travel Protection Plan

Similar to the Flexible Change Plan, this option frees you from change fees or penalties and provides a Travel Credit for the full amount of your vacation, minus the cost of the premium plan, with the same one-year time limit.

Unlike the basic plan, our Travel Protection Plan only requires 72 hours of notice to postpone. Additionally, you'll get 24-hour worldwide emergency assistance and concierge services, protection for baggage loss or damage, travel delay coverage, and medical assistance during your trip.

It's important to remember, the premium plan is NOT automatically included with your vacation. If this plan is right for you, you must purchase the Travel Protection Plan at the same time you book your original vacation.

About Travel Protection Plan 2

Like we mentioned before, our Basic Flexible Change Plan or our Premium Travel Protection Plan is going to cover your trip in most cases. Travel Protection Plan 2 has you covered if the vacation you chose has special considerations.

If your vacation is escorted, a group or golf package, or includes a cruise or rail travel, your travel protection will be provided by Trip Mate Inc. The coverage is designed to offer you a full cash refund (excluding the cost of insurance and cancellation fees) if you need to cancel for reasons including death, illness, injury, and a few others. You can find a full description of your coverage under Travel Protection Plan 2 on Trip Mate's website.

Travel Protection Plan 2 is NOT automatically included with your vacation and must be purchased within 48 hours of booking.

Protect your financial investment

The bottom line is that Great Value Vacations' travel protection options protect your bottom line. Adding coverage to your trip is not mandatory, but it is a really, REALLY good idea.

You've been waiting over a year to travel and the last thing you need is to lose your travel fund to another unforeseen event. Declining trip protection could result in the loss of your travel cost and/or require more money to correct the situation.

When it comes to your long-awaited vacation, it pays to play it safe.
