Day 1. Welcome to Reykjavik!
Welcome to Iceland! Upon arrival, you'll board a transfer coach marked "Flybus" and be whisked off to your hotel in Reykjavik. The evening is yours to explore the colorful city, visit a museum or two, and get to know the area!
A Tip For Your Trip: From October to mid-April, optional Northern Lights evening tours can be booked at the lobby of your hotel if weather conditions are favorable.

Day 2. Reykjavik - Akureyri
This morning, meet your tour guide then travel west along the scenic Hvalfjordur fjord and the town of Borgarnes. Lace up your hiking boots and enjoy a 40-minute hike to the rim of Grabrok volcano crater, formed about 3,400 years ago. The crater is in the middle of a vast lava field and from the top, you will have superb views of the beautiful landscape.
This afternoon, stop at a fishing village in northwest Iceland and visit a Natural History & Seal Museum and stroll around the harbor. Further north, stop at the turf church of Vidimyri, which has been extensively restored to its original form and is widely considered one of the most beautiful examples of traditional Icelandic architecture. Continue along the scenic fjord landscape and over several mountain passes until reaching Akureyri, the capital of North Iceland.
Icelandair Hotel Akureyri
Icelandair Hotel Akureyri is a new, friendly hotel, opened in the summer of 2011, with tastefully decorated, bright and sunny rooms and inviting facilities. Day 3. Akureyri - Husavik
Wake up and explore Akureyri, a charming town of 17,000 inhabitants. Visit the botanical garden and enjoy panoramic views over Eyjafjörður fjord. In the afternoon, travel to a prominent spot in Iceland's history, Godafoss, known as the waterfalls of the Gods.
Continue to Lake Myvatn, known for its geological wonders and active bird life during the summer. The lake's unique features are shaped by nature - strange lava formations, volcanic craters and beautiful bays filled with thousands of birds and ducks. Stop at the bizarre lava formations at Kálfaströnd followed by a walk around the many pseudo craters.
Stroll through the mysterious lava field of Dimmuborgir, see the tephra cone Hverfjall and end an exciting day with a relaxing soak at Myvatn Nature Baths containing a unique blend of minerals, silicates, and geothermal micro-organisms.Â

Check-in - Sel Hotel Myvatn
Sel Hotel Myvatn is located a few minutes' walk from the Skutustaiagugar pseudo-craters and offers plenty of lake-side activities to enjoy during your stay. The hotel is situated so the pseudo-craters are in full view of the on-site restaurant, not to mention the incredible views to the north and south of the property. In the interest of accommodating guests' need for a good night's sleep, the hotel has created a calm environment for relaxation and boasts excellent beds. Day 4. Husavik - East Iceland
Start the day with a hike in a lava labyrinth at Dimmuborgir, also known as the "dark castles." While you're here, see if you can catch a glimpse of the trolls who are said to live here! After an optional lunch, visit the hot spring area of Namaskard with its bubbling mud pools and steaming solfataras. Head through the uninhabited highlands and moon-like surrounding to East Iceland. With some luck, you might spot an Arctic fox or reindeer!
From June to August, the tour includes a detour to Dettifoss, Europe's most powerful waterfall in the northern part of Vatnajökull National Park.Â

Day 5. East Iceland - Vatnajokull
Admire the dramatic fjord landscape and its tiny fishing villages at the end of twisty roads in the East Fjords. On route, visit Petra's impressive stone and mineral collection.
In the afternoon, explore Vatnajökull, Europe's largest glacier that can be seen all over Southeast Iceland. Just past the town of Hofn, stop at Jokulsarlon, a glacial lagoon filled with floating icebergs. See if you can spot any seals swimming in the arctic waters and walk along on the black sand beach, where large icebergs can get stranded.
Depending on the season, optional boat trips are available. Travel along the southern part of the glacier Vatnajökull and spend some time at Europe's second largest national park, which has Iceland's highest mountains and Europe's largest glacier.

Day 6. Vatnajokull - South Iceland
Head across the Eldhraun lava field and cross the sandy desert of the south coast with its rugged cliffs, glaciers, and waterfalls. The world-famous Reynisfjara shore near the village of Vik is widely regarded as the most impressive black sand and pebble beach in Iceland, and features an amazing cliff of basalt columns resembling a rocky step pyramid. Gaze out towards the sea to see the spectacular basalt sea stacks, Reynisdrangar.
In the small village of Skogar you will encounter the 200-ft Skogafoss Waterfall, one of the most impressive waterfalls in the country. Continue to the 210-foot-high but narrow Seljalandsfoss Waterfall that plunges over the mountain. If you don't mind getting wet, follow the beautiful trail that goes behind the falls. Further west, stop at the Lava & Volcano Information Center in Hvolsvollur and learn about geothermal activities in Iceland.Â

The original geyser is now dormant but has been replaced by Strokkur, which erupts at 5-10 minute intervals. Continue to Gullfoss, also known as the "golden falls." Venture inland to the UNESCO-certified Thingvellir National Park, an area of exceptional geological and historical interest. The Thingvellir area is part of a fissure zone running through Iceland, situated on the tectonic plate boundaries of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. As you return to Reykjavik, enjoy a short city tour showing you the highlights of the world's northernmost capital.Â
