Argentina is a country of fascinating contrasts and unspoiled nature from north to south. On this 8-night adventure, explore the northern region's impressive waterfalls, striking desert landscapes, bustling cities and colonial villages.

Begin in the elegant capital of Buenos Aires, called the "Paris of South America." Visit the city's most famous landmarks and neighborhoods on an included tour, then have the freedom to explore on your own. Taste some of the finest beef on the planet in a parrilla (Argentine steakhouse) and watch the romance unfold before your eyes in a tango.

From Buenos Aires, fly to Puerto Iguazu and spend two days exploring the jaw-dropping Iguazu Falls - named a 7th Natural World Wonder! Step one foot in Brazil then return to Argentina the next day as you explore the 275 waterfalls that make up Iguazu National Park.

Leave Iguazu and fly to Salta in the northwest. Founded in 1582, the city is known for its Spanish colonial architecture and Andean heritage. Enjoy a city tour in Salta, then head to Purmamarca that's home to the beautiful Cerro de los Siete Colores (Hill of Seven Colors). 

Wander across the massive Salt Flats (Salinas Grandes) and the villages near Quebrada de Humahuaca before heading back to Buenos Aires.

Day 1. Welcome to Buenos Aires!

Say "hola" to Argentina! Arrive in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina and the center of the political, economic and intellectual life of the country. Buenos Aires has a strong European influence which is reflected by its refined taste in cooking, its luxury boutiques and in the elegance of its inhabitants. Despite modern developments, Buenos Aires has managed to preserve old traditions and charming neighborhoods.

Check into your hotel and get settled, then celebrate your first night in Argentina with steak and wine at a parrilla, a traditional Argentine steakhouse.

Day 2. Buenos Aires

You can't visit Buenos Aires without seeing a tango show. Added to UNESCO’s list of the world’s intangible cultural treasures, tango is a fiery, passion-fueled dance that seduces even the most casual viewers!

Buenos Aires City Tour (4 hours)

Your city tour of Buenos Aires starts at the famous 9 de Julio Avenue, known as the widest avenue in the world! Pass by the beautiful Colon Theater, the cultural pride of Buenos Aires, and arrive at the main square Plaza de Mayo, which is surrounded by Casa Rosada (Government House), Metropolitan Cathedral and the Cabildo (first City Hall). Visit the inside of the Metropolitan Cathedral, which holds the remains of General José de San Martín (Argentina's national hero).

Your next stop is La Boca, a colorful neighborhood of painted houses with the famous "Caminito" street.

The tour ends in the city's northern districts. Drive to the green neighborhood of Palermo with its parks and artificial lakes. Then, visit Recoleta with its elegant boutiques and restaurants. At the famous Recoleta cemetery, you will find the grave of Eva Duarte, known as Eva Perón (Evita). The mausoleums and pantheons reflect the architectural diversity from Argentina's different cultures.

Day 3. Buenos Aires - Puerto Iguazu

Transfer to Buenos Aires domestic airport and board your flight to Puerto Iguazu! Merging the Argentine, Brazilian and Paraguayan borders, Iguazu Falls leaves every visitor speechless. A total of 275 falls make up Iguazu Falls, with Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s Throat) being the most impressive waterfall of them all.

In addition to the falls, Iguazu National Park is full of exotic subtropical vegetation: giant trees, ferns, lianas and orchids. Over 400 species of colorful birds (toucans, parrots, woodpeckers, humming birds) jaguars, foxes, tapirs and monkeys call Iguazu home.

Walk along the paths following cascades and then walk along the catwalk that leads very close to the bottom of the Devil’s Throat. Stare in amazement at the panoramic views of the falls of the Argentinean side, like the Two Sisters, Bozzeti, Superior Circuit and San Martin Island, where the movie “The Mission” was filmed. The promenade where you will be standing presents a complete and panoramic view of the falls. 

Please note it is your responsibility to obtain the appropriate visa for entry into Brazil. 

Day 4. Puerto Iguazu

On your second day in Iguazu, venture to the Argentina side for a closer look at Devil's Throat and walk the path along the river canyon. 

After your tour, continue exploring the national park's walking trails.

Iguazu Falls Tour - Argentinian side (4.5 hours)

The tour begins at Iguazu National Park.  Arrive at the Visitors Center and board a gas-propelled train at the main station taking you to the upper falls circuit and Devil’s Throat (Garganta del Diablo), the tallest and largest waterfall in Iguazu. Head to a strategic lookout point resting on the side of the gorgeous Devil’s Throat and be amazed by the sound of gushing water dropping 262 feet. Walk about 1.8 miles along the Iguazu river canyon via the lower and upper circuits to view the park's flora and fauna. On this walk, you'll have a chance to get up close and personal to the 270 individual waterfalls that make up Iguazu Falls.

Day 5. Puerto Iguazu - Salta

Leave Iguazu today and fly to Salta! Situated in a fertile valley, Salta is the perfect gateway for tours around the Northwest. Getting its name from the Aymara word meaning “very beautiful,” Salta was officially founded in 1582 and is renowned for its perfectly preserved colonial architecture.

Upon arrival, you will be welcomed at the airport and taken to your hotel. You'll then embark on a 3-hour tour of Salta's highlights.

Salta city tour with San Bernardo chairlift (3-hours)

Begin your Salta city tour at the main square 9 de Julio surrounded by colonial buildings, the Cathedral, Archbishop’s Palace, Cabildo (government building) and the High Mountain Archaeological Museum (MAAM). This museum was created to exhibit the “Llullaillaco kids,” one of the most important archaeological discoveries in modern history. These three frozen kids were found at the top of Llullaillaco volcano (21.980 ft.) together with 146 pieces of personal belongings. According to research, they lived more than 500 years ago during the Inca Empire.

Continue to San Bernardo Hill and enjoy a chairlift ride with beautiful views of Salta. Drive through residential areas built in colonial style and visit San Lorenzo, a small village about 6.3 miles from Salta. The last stop of the city tour is the art and crafts market of Salta where you'll have the chance to pick up unique souvenirs.

Day 6. Salta

In the early morning, depart Salta for San Antonio de los Cobres. Spend the day exploring Purmamarca and Salinas Grandes, two highlights of this strikingly beautiful region in Argentina, before returning to Salta.

Tour to Purmamarca & Salt Flats (Salinas Grandes), (full-day)

In the early morning, depart Salta to the UNESCO-certified Quebrada de Humahuaca area, where indigenous traditions are kept alive among multi-colored hillsides. This region of valleys and canyons frames several little villages, colorful hills with adobe homes, historical chapels, and pre-Hispanic ruins. 

Journey along Route 9, then take Route 52 to the town of Purmamarca. Stop to photograph the Cerro de Siete Colores (the hill of seven colors), then continue on Route 52 and begin to wind your way up the winding Cuesta de Lipan road, eventually reaching an altitude of 13.681 ft. above sea level.

Arrive at Salinas Grandes, a massive salt plain covering around 3,200 square miles. Once a lake some 11,000 years ago, the area is now used for salt mining and is an impressive sight to behold. Return to Purmamarca and sightsee in the charming village. Noteworthy attractions include the ancient church and the handicraft market where local Indians sell their wares. 

Day 7. Salta

Spend the day touring the ancient villages that make up the Quebrada de Humahuaca. Visit Tilcara, Humahuaca and Jujuy!

Tour of Humahuaca Gorge, including land transfer to Salta (full-day)

On this tour, visit the ancient villages of Tilcara, Humahuaca and Jujuy located in Quebrada de Humahuaca (Humahuaca Gorge). Begin in Tilcara with its Pucará, an old indigenous fortress situated in a magnificent frame of cactus and colorful mountains. Walk around, visit the ruins and see the Archaeological Museum. Continue further north and stop in Humahuaca where you can peruse the goods at the handicraft market and see the Manuel Belgrano monument. On the way back to Salta, visit the city of Jujuy (also known as San Salvador de Jujuy) and tour its principal sights.  

Day 8. Salta - Buenos Aires

Say goodbye to Argentina's stunning northern province as you transfer to Salta airport for your flight to Buenos Aires. After transferring to your hotel, spend one last evening in the bustling capital with good food and wine!
