A wealth of treasured attractions in this vacation makes for a memorable vacation, starting in Beijing with its guided tours of Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, and the spiritual Temple of Heaven. Guests on this personalized trip also have the opportunity to see giant pandas, and to ride on a cycle rickshaw through the “hutongs” - historic back alleys unique to Beijing - with the chance to meet a local family. A climb of a section of the Great Wall of China is also on the program, along with an authentic Peking duck dinner and tickets to the spectacular performance, "The Legend of Kung Fu."
After flying to Xian, guests immerse themselves further in history by viewing many of the 8,000 life-sized statues of warriors and horses to make up China’s first emperor’s Terracotta Army, buried for more than 2,300 years before being unearthed by peasants in 1974.
A stay in Shanghai, Paris of the East, is highlighted by tours of the historic neighborhood, The Bund on the waterfront, Old Chinatown and the Yu Gardens, all of which are in great contrast to the modern skyline on the Pudong side of the Huangpu River, mere rice paddy fields 20 years ago. Another highlight will be the high-speed Maglev rail experience, the train reaching speeds of up to 268mph.

Day 1. Welcome to Beijing!
Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to the Beijing Marriott City Wall Hotel for five nights.

Day 3. Beijing
Go see the giant pandas at Beijing Zoo, stroll along the ancient Qian Men Avenue and stop at the Silk Market today! (Breakfast and lunch)

Day 9. Shangai
Spend a day exploring this gracious and cosmopolitan city. See the former Colonial Concessions along The Bund for a view of the _yesterday & today' of Shanghai. Enjoy the sound and light show in the unique _cable car' tunnel ride beneath the Huangpu River to Pudong, and stop at the soaring Jin Mao Tower for a breathtaking panorama of the city. Stroll along the alleyways of Old Chinatown, visit the Yu Garden and enjoy a river cruise before returning to your hotel. (Breakfast and lunch)
Day 10. Shangai
Another exciting day to discover Zhujiajiao, an ancient water town with cobblestone lanes and well-preserved Ming and Qing buildings. Enjoy this charming and traditional town as you cruise along the canals and drift beneath stone arched bridges. End the day at Tianzi Fang where many artists and local designers have set up art studios and galleries _ a great chance to shop at the boutiques or just relax at one of the street cafes. Day 11. Depart Shangai
Bid farewell to China as you board the Maglev, the world's fastest train, for a ride to the airport. (Breakfast)
