Live out your Amazon dream on this 9-night adventure! See mesmerizing Machu Picchu, get acquainted with city life in Lima and Cusco, and end in the lush Peruvian jungle with jaguars and macaws! Begin your vacation in Peru's capital city, Lima. Experience traditional Peruvian culture, admire colonial architecture in Plaza Mayor, enjoy a night out dancing to the cajon drums and dine on the best ceviche in the world.

From Lima, head south to Cusco, a city that seamlessly blends Inca and Spanish colonial architecture. Sip coca tea to get adjusted to the high altitude and enjoy a walking tour taking you to some of the city's highlights.

You'll then board a luxurious train to the mysterious “lost city of the Incas" - Machu Picchu! Enjoy a guided tour of the citadel made up of aqueducts, granite and limestone temples, and incredible Inca architecture that are almost unbelievably preserved. Take photo after photo of this Wonder of the World!

From Machu Picchu head back to Cusco. Along the way, enjoy a tour of the temperate Sacred Valley as you see the ruins of a quaint village and peruse the goods at a unique outdoor crafts market. Continue your journey south to Puerto Maldonado, Peru's capital of the southern jungle! Spend two incredible nights on the edge of the Madre de Dios River as you enjoy guided tours of the Amazon. Day 1. Welcome to Lima!

Say "hola" to Peru! Upon arrival in Lima, you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel. After you settle in, explore your accommodations and the surrounding area.

In the evening, enjoy your first Peruvian meal near your hotel.

Colonial & Contemporary Lima City Tour, including Larco Museum (4.5 hours)

Start your tour in Lima’s contemporary districts, Miraflores and San Isidro, that combine beautiful parks, such as “El Olivar” and “Parque del Amor”, shopping centers, and modern architecture. In the historical center, admire the colorful colonial architecture around the “Plaza San Martín” and the main square “Plaza de Armas”, where you can also see the Government Palace, the Cathedral, and the Municipality. From here, visit the San Francisco Monastery and discover its underground maze of tunnels and catacombs.

Finish the tour visiting Larco Museum. It is considered one of the best museums in Latin America. This museum features the best and most complete pre-Hispanic gold and silver collection in the world.  It is well-known because of its erotic ceramics exhibits as well as its vast storage galleries.

After the tour, return to your hotel.


Day 3. Lima - Cusco

Following breakfast at the hotel you will be transferred to the airport for your morning flight to Cusco, Peru's breathtakingly beautiful colonial city! The juxtaposition of cultures makes this city one of the world's top destinations.

After you've settled in, enjoy a walking tour taking you to Cusco Cathedral and the sun temple Koricancha!

A Tip For Your Trip: Chewing coca leaves and drinking coca tea will help you adjust to Cusco's high altitude.

Once you arrive in the town of Aguas Calientes, you’ll have a shuttle bus escort you to the citadel followed by a guided tour of Machu Picchu. Once you've marveled at this mysterious and spectacular archaeological site, a shuttle bus will escort you down from Machu Picchu back to Aguas Calientes, where you will walk to your nearby hotel. 

After you've rested your tired feet, enjoy a relaxing dinner in town.

Day 6. Cusco

Today, enjoy a full day in Cusco at your leisure. Pay a visit to the Museum of Pre-Columbian Art housed in a former convent in the Plaza de las Nazarenas. This museum is wonderful for visitors looking for a different perspective on pre-Columbian ceramics.

Hike up to the San Blas neighborhood and pick up a few souvenirs to take home. In the evening, indulge in a few of Peru's delicacies. Adventurous eaters may want to try the local specialty, cuy (guinea pig).

Day 7. Cusco - Puerto Maldonado

Today you will depart Cusco for Puerto Maldonado, the capital of the southern jungle. Cruise by motorized canoe along the Madre de Dios River until you reach your accommodation. Enjoy lunch then take a walk through nature trails, where you will learn about primary and secondary rainforest and its relevance in the world.

At dusk, you will embark on another canoe ride for a twilight river excursion. Cruise on the Madre de Dios River and learn about its ecosystem, Amazonian creeks, nocturnal animals’ behavior, and the southern constellations.

Take a 20-minute ride by canoe to the Inkaterra Canopy Walkway Interpretation Center where you will learn about its construction and the conservation projects of ITA-Inkaterra Asociación (NGO). Ascend one of the two 98-foot towers and cross the 7 hanging bridges that connect the treetops at 91 feet high. Enjoy the breathtaking vistas and get the chance to see white-throated toucans, woodpeckers, trogons, squirrel monkeys and the three-toed sloth! After descending, go along the wooden bridge over the swamps (aguajales). Learn about the fauna and flora of this flooded ecosystem.

Then get ready for a nighttime rainforest adventure! Listen and watch for the Amazon's nocturnal animals including jaguars, pumas and sloths.

Day 9. Puerto Maldonado - Lima

After breakfast, transfer back to Puerto Maldonado for your flight to Lima. Before departing, visit the Inkaterra Butterfly House, a large butterfly garden and reproduction laboratory offering an interactive experience with a large variety of butterflies.
