Day 1. Welcome to Madrid!
Bienvenidos to Spain! Arrive at Madrid airport and pick up your rental car, then drive approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes to your accommodation in Valverdon, a town just outside of Salamanca. On the way, admire the beautiful Spanish countryside.Â
Upon arrival at Hacienda Zorita, you will be greeted with a welcome drink and check into your luxurious one bedroom villa with a private terrace and wine cellar!Â
Check-in - Hacienda Zorita Wine Hotel & Spa
A former monastery overlooking the River Tormes, Hacienda Zorita Wine Hotel & Spa is a magnificent wine resort with an impressive history dating back to the 14th century. The hotel is right on the riverbank in the Douro Valley and just seven miles from the bustling city of Salamanca.Â
At the Hacienda Zorita Wine Hotel & Spa, guests experience true hospitality together with two gourmet restaurants, a vinotherapy spa, wine tasting in the cellars, and an ancient chapel with 16th-century works of art. The River Tormes flows beneath this 700-year old restored monastery and original thick stone walls and magnificent oak beams contrast beautifully with contemporary design in the 40 rooms and suites. Each room comes with a view of the river or vineyard and feature air conditioning and complimentary Wi-Fi. Villas feature private gardens and private cellars.
Be sure to indulge in some of Hacienda Zorita’s specialties including extra virgin olive oil, local cheese, and cured ham produced on the estate. Enjoy wine tasting and a tour of the Marqués de la Concordia wine cellar with its 1450 oak barrels. Have a lovely dinner at Zorita's Kitchen for superb cuisine accompanied by fine local wines, then relax in the wine bar.
Day 2. Salamanca
Today, enjoy a relaxing day at Hacienda Zorita in Spain's "Tierra del Pan y del Vino" (The Land of Bread and Wine). Vines have been growing in this region since 1366 and the valley is crossed by Europe’s longest “wine river," the Douro.Â
Hacienda Zorita produces a limited quantity of high quality raw milk ewe’s cheese, Iberico hams and charcuterie, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, vegetables, fruits and wholesome breads at their organic farm. Drive 20 minutes to the farm and see it for yourself!
Later today, enjoy an included visit to the Marques de la Concordia wine cellar and a tasting of Hacienda Zorita's fine wines.Â
Day 3. Salamanca
Explore Salamanca today, known as Spain's "Golden City." Home to the country's oldest university, Salamanca is rich in architecture, history, and culture. Begin your day at Plaza Mayor, widely considered to be Spain's most beautiful central plaza.Â
Continue on to the University of Salamanca, the third oldest university in Europe founded in 1218. Stroll the stunning plaza and pay a visit to the one of Europe's oldest libraries.Â
Don't miss Casa de las Conchas (The House of Shells), a 16th-century Gothic palace covered in over 300 seashells. The palace is now an exhibition space and public library.ÂDay 4. Salamanca - Madrid
Say goodbye to Salamanca as you drive back to Madrid, where you will be staying for the next three nights. On the way, you may want to stop in the city of Segovia, famous for its magnificent Roman aqueduct and Gothic cathedral.Â
Upon arrival in Madrid, check into your accommodation and start exploring the capital! The heart of the city is Plaza Mayor, a vibrant central square lined with gorgeous apartments and arches.Â
After a quick nap, head up to the scenic rooftop terrace and enjoy sweeping views of the majestic city. Enjoy a drink from up above and, in the summer, take a refreshing dip in the rooftop pool! Lounge poolside, soak up the sun, and gaze out at the city below. Indulge in a delicious dinner from the on-site restaurant, then feast your eyes on an unforgettable sunset.

Day 5. Madrid
Today, consider heading to the best museum in Madrid and arguably one of the finest in Europe - Museo del Prado. Admire the works of Spanish masters Velazquez, Goya, and El GrecoÂ
If the weather is agreeable, make your way to Parque del Buen Retiro, one of Europe's prettiest parks. Row a boat on the lake, post up with a picnic on the lawn, or simply stroll the park and watch Madrid pass you by.
In the evening, treat yourself to Madrid's famous dining experience - tapas! Head for La Latina neighborhood and pop into a few different tapas bars. Don't forget the cava!
Day 6. Depart Spain
Your Spanish vacation ends today. At the appropriate time, drive to Madrid airport, drop off your rental car, and transfer to your departure gate for your flight home.
