Day 1. Welcome to Lima!
Immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of lively Lima! Upon arrival, enjoy a relaxing private transfer to your first hotel. Depending on what time your flight gets in, either spend the evening resting at your hotel or get out and start exploring the city! Barranco is the perfect neighborhood to stroll through on your first night. Get to know this beautiful part of Lima and treat yourself to a delicious first night meal!

Day 2. Lima

Colonial & Contemporary City Tour with San Francisco Monastery and Gastronomic Museum (5h)
Explore the historical center and marvel at the colorful colonial architecture around the “Plaza San Martín” and the main square “Plaza de Armas”, where you'll also admire the Government Palace, the Cathedral, and the Municipality. After, visit the San Francisco Monastery to discover its underground labyrinth of tunnels and catacombs. Continue to the Gastromony Museum, also known as The House of Peruvian Gastronomy, which showcases thousands of years of culinary history. Learn why Peruvian cuisine is becoming increasingly popular across the world. Lastly, head to Lima’s contemporary districts, Miraflores and San Isidro, that feature gorgeous parks like “El Olivar” and “Parque del Amor”, shopping centers, and modern architecture.
Day 3. Lima
After breakfast, embark on a classic city tour with a gastronomic twist!
Start the tour with a visit to a local market and walk through the colorful stands, admiring a wide variety of national products and tasting exotic fruits. Continue on to the Gastronomy Museum, to learn the impact Peruvian cuisine is having across the globe. To finalize the tour, head to a local restaurant for a demonstration of how to prepare the famous cocktail, “Pisco Sour” and the national dish, “Ceviche”. Continue to awaken your taste buds as you enjoy a lunch with signature Peruvian dishes. After your meal, you will be brought back to your hotel.
Gastronomy Tour with lunch in Lima
Peruvian cuisine is currently enjoying a period of international recognition, having been named as the ‘gastronomic capital of the world’ across numerous publications and travel networks, making this tour all the more alluring. On arrival at the restaurant, you will be shown the secrets to preparing some of Peru’s classic dishes with a modern twist, such as ceviche and pisco sours, before indulging in a delectable gourmet lunch, while overlooking the Pacific Ocean. This experience includes a trip to one of the many local produce markets to see first-hand the array of ingredients which go into such fine dining, before being awarded with your very own chef’s apron, to keep as a souvenir in your own kitchen back home!
Day 4. Lima - Sacred Valley
Wake up early and indulge in a hearty breakfast. With such a packed day ahead of you, you'll need it! Feel yourself flutter with excitement as you enjoy a convenient transfer to the airport. Cusco, here you come!
Upon arrival in the majestic lands of historic ruins and natural wonders, settle into your hotel in the Sacred Valley. Head out to explore more of the town. Well-known amongst locals and tourists, the bazaar-like open market offers a wide selection of Peruvian handicrafts: ceramics, paintings, weavings, and jewelry. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. After lunch, explore the impressive ruins of Ollantaytambo, one of the few places where the Incas won a battle against the Spaniards. Climb up the platforms and enjoy the view above the village and onto the valley. Near the ruins, visit a typical home and learn about the unique way their family has lived for generations in the Sacred Valley.

Sacred Valley tour with visits to Ollantaytambo ruins & Pisac Market
Visit one of the last remaining Incan towns, Ollantaytambo, which was once fiercely guarded by a massive fortress. Discover the large archaeological complex that used to serve as a wayside inn for royal delegations on long journeys. Surviving structures here include multiple walls and towers used to protect the citadel from possible invasions. After touring the ruins, continue along the Sacred Valley to Pisac, a beautiful village where Incan and Colonial influences have created the unique way of life of the local inhabitants. Explore this quaint town, famous for its artisan market where you can find extraordinarily fine jewelry, ceramics and textile craftwork.
Day 5. Sacred Valley - Machu Picchu - Cusco
All aboard! You will be taken to the train station, board the panoramic train, and enjoy the stunning Andean views filled with small communities and snow-capped mountains in the Sacred Valley.
When you arrive at Aguas Calientes, the small village at the bottom of Machu Picchu, take the shuttle bus to the ancient citadel. Learn about the Inca civilization, the site’s discovery, and the different theories on this mysterious and spectacular archeological site. After this matchless day, take the bus back to Aguas Calientes and continue with the train. You will be taken from Ollantaytambo to your hotel in Cusco.

Upon arrival, board a bus that will take you straight to the entrance gate to the Machu Picchu Citadel!
Rediscovered by Hiram Bingham more than a century ago, Machu Picchu is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Its architectural beauty, spectacular natural landscapes, and the mystery held in its enigmatic structures will take your breath away.
Day 6. Cusco
Lace up your most comfortable shoes and head out on your included walking city tour! Start your walking tour at the “Plaza de Armas” and visit the impressive Renaissance-style Cathedral.
Make your way through small alleys edged with Incan walls until you reach Koricancha, the temple dedicated to the sun, “Inti”. Believed to be the most important temple for the Incas, it was destroyed by the Spanish conquerors in the 16th century. Its foundations were used to build the Catholic Church Santo Domingo, marking an evident clash of cultures. End your tour at the typical San Pedro market and take in the lively bustle of the workers and their colorful stands filled with fruits, vegetables, spices, and other local products. Tasting of local products is included.
Walking Tour of Cusco Including Golden Temple and Visit to San Pedro Market
Lace up comfortable shoes and begin exploring the Imperial City on foot! Visit one of the most impressive buildings of Incan Cusco: the Korikancha (the Golden Temple) - a temple dedicated to the worship of the Sun God, whose interior walls were said to have been covered in gold.
Continue on with a stroll through the Main Square, where you'll discover the Cathedral and admire its exquisite vestibules and priceless paintings from the Cusco School of the 17th and 18th centuries.
Last but not least, you'll head to the San Pedro Market, which, being the city's main street market, will give you an opportunity to get to know the products of Cusco, overwhelming you with the sights, aromas, tastes, and colors of the region.
Day 7. Cusco
Today, you will visit the chocolate museum where you can learn about the history of Cacao and chocolate, the Cacao tree and its small chocolate factory where the products are made. The chocolate-making process involves many steps, so it is time to get to work. (Note: transfers to the Chocomuseum are not included).
The cacao beans are roasted and the husk is removed, before the cacao nibs are ground to a refined “melangeur” paste. Then, it is time to put together your very own chocolate bar with the ingredients of your choice: almonds, nuts, and coffee beans. While you wait for your chocolate to harden, you will taste some chocolate tea brewed from the husks and some fresh hot chocolate (day's recipe). You can leave with your handmade chocolate bar at the end of the workshop.
In the evening, you will be picked up at the given time to walk to the restaurant for dinner. The restaurant is located in the city's heart and surrounded by Cusco’s historical monuments. Enjoy typical Peruvian food while admiring one of the best folkloric dancing shows. After dinner, you will be accompanied back to your hotel.
Day 8. Cusco - Lima
After breakfast, enjoy a relaxing ride to Cusco Airport (CUZ). Wave goodbye to beautiful Cusco, and once again, say hello to Lima!
After you arrive and settle into your Lima hotel, dine on fresh seafood and say cheers to an unforgettable vacation with a Pisco Sour, Peru's national drink!
