This plaza is also home to the Florence Baptistry, where notable figures from the Medici Family to Dante were baptized; be sure to take a closer look at the east doors, which Michelangelo dubbed the "Gates of Paradise."

Travel back in time today in the village of San Gimignano, one of the most iconic and recognizable destinations in Tuscany. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this village has been dubbed the "Manhattan of the Medieval Ages" due to the number of towers sticking out against the horizon.Â
You could also visit Lucca, another picture-perfect Tuscan city known for its well-preserved Renaissance walls encircling the historic city center.Â

For your final full day in the Tuscan region, head north for about an hour and you will reach the city of Arezzo. Enjoy the medieval towers and Renaissance style sprinkled throughout the streets and the busy Piazza Grande, the city center!
