Day 1. Welcome to Tuscany!
Arrive in Rome's Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport (FCO) and pick up your car at the rental area. Make your way north to your accommodation in Regello, the luxurious Fattoria degli Usignoli.Â
Check-in - Fattoria Degli Usignoli
Fattoria degli Usignoli is surrounded by large olive groves in a resplendent, heart-warming natural setting. Built by the Vallombrosan friars in about 1400, it enjoys a panoramic position at an altitude of 1,300 feet, in San Donato in Fronzano, in the municipality of Reggello. Immersed in the heart of the Tuscan countryside and decorated in classic Tuscan style, it provides the ideal base for visiting nearby cities of art such as Florence, Pisa, Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra, Arezzo, Cortona and the Chianti area. The restaurant combines traditional recipes with inviting and innovative dishes, served in the property’s rustic former winery. While enjoying the delicacies of typical Tuscan cuisine, guests can enjoy the hotel’s own home-grown red and white wines, as well as the top wines from all over Italy. Fattoria degli Usignoli also features three swimming pools (including one for children), tennis, a riding school, two lounges and a wine bar.
Fattoria degli Usignoli is set on an enviable position between the Arno Valley and the Chianti Hills. It is located 180 miles from the Rome Airport, 20 miles from Florence, 65 miles from Siena, 54 miles from San Gimignano, 39 miles from Arezzo and 64 miles from Cortona.Â
Day 2. Regello
Florence's history as the hub of the renaissance continues to haunt the shops and alleyways, making a stroll through the city an adventure through history. Enjoy breathtaking works of art and architectural masterpieces at every corner; visit Michelangelo’s David, which towers at 14 feet high or Donatello's controversial bronze David.
Explore the breathtaking Florence Cathedral with its Gothic architecture and stunning frescoes or enjoy a leisurely stroll through the picturesque Boboli Gardens - the choice is yours!
A Tip For Your Trip: Head to Piazzele Michelangelo for free, panoramic views of the city.
Day 3. Regello
Today, make your way to Siena, where you can enjoy a medieval cityscape as well as breathtaking works of art. Start your exploration at the main square, Piazza del Campo. Throw a coin into the stunning marble fountain Fontana Gaia, then explore the breathtaking Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta if you wish.Â
Alternatively, venture off the beaten path and consider treating yourself to a tour of one of the surrounding olive orchards. Regello is known for its production of extra virgin olive oil so you will have many groves to choose from; you'll have the opportunity to not only learn about the production of this culinary staple, but will even be treated to a tasting!
Day 4. Regello
Today, head to Pisa, where you'll find Gothic churches, Renaissance piazzas, and Romanesque buildings. In addition to the iconic tower that towers over the city there are plenty of sites to see. Consider a visitto the Medici Palace, where you will be enveloped in luxury, or perhaps you'd like to enjoy some Italian art at the Church of San Matteo and National Museum.
Celebrate your last night in Italy with an authentic Italian meal! In addition to the iconic pastas and pizzas of Italy, you'll find regional Florentine specialties in Pisa like bistecca alla fiorentina (Florentine steak).
A Tip For Your Trip: Snap a photo of yourself holding up the famous leaning tower!
