Northern Lights Tour (RE62)
This tour takes you to see a spectacular phenomenon that can be seen from late August to mid-April. The northern lights, also known as the aurora borealis, are caused by the interaction of particles from the sun with the upper atmosphere near the Magnetic Pole.
Choosing a guided tour increases your chances of seeing the northern lights in Iceland. A team of experts reviews and studies the weather, locations, and aurora forecast on a daily basis to determine if the odds are in your favor. This tour is weather dependent and sightings are not guaranteed. However, you will experience Icelandic nature during the night, the Milky Way, stars, moon, clouds, and total darkness. Please note that indicated return times can vary. If you don‘t see any northern lights during this tour, you are invited to join the tour again, free of charge, if your schedule allows. Children are welcome on the tour, however, this can be a long and cold night and therefore it may not be suitable for children younger than 6 years old.
Day 2. Reykjavik
Relax at your hotel this morning before partaking in one of the best things to do in Reykjavik – experiencing the Sky Lagoon, a new geothermal spa that offers an array of therapeutic treatments.
Sky Lagoon (SL01) at 1:00 PM
Sky Lagoon is a brand new thermal spa inspired by Icelandic nature & culture. Located only few minutes from downtown Reykjavik, this unique experience is about that Icelandic feeling of warmth and wonder. Experience rejuvenation and inspiration at the edge of the world.
The seven-step ritual is based on the traditions of Icelandic bathing culture and is rooted in wellness, wholeness and wonder. (1. Slow Down at the Lagoon > 2. Cool Down at the Cold Plunge > 3. Relax in the Sauna > 4. Refresh with Cold Mist > 5. Reinvigorate with the Sky Scrub > 6. Steam Room > 7. Shower and Relax in the lagoon).
Sky Lagoon is located at Kársnes Harbour, Kópavogur - approximately a 10-15 minute drive from downtown Reykjavik.
Day 3. Reykjavik
Discover the south coast of Iceland today with your included South Shore Adventure!
South Shore Adventure (RE15)
This South Shore Adventure tour is ideal for nature lovers of all kinds. You'll travel along the south coast of Iceland, one of the country’s most scenic regions, as far as VÃk, a charming village surrounded by high beautiful bird cliffs. South Iceland is special in that it is one of the flattest regions on the island. As a result, nearly all grain farming in Iceland is done there. The high mountains to the north, shield the area from the harshest northern winds.
Among the stops on this tour are the gorgeous Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls. Seljalandsfoss is part of the Seljalandsá river, which has its origins in Eyjafjallajökull glacier. What makes Seljalandsfoss so famous and interesting is that you can walk behind it. We recommend you bring either a raincoat or a waterproof coat along if you want to stroll behind it which we of course highly recommend. Skógafoss, another famous Icelandic waterfall, is the starting point of the Fimmvörðuháls walk over to Þórsmörk. This most picturesque of all waterfalls is something of a film star, having been used as a backdrop in films such as Thor: The Dark World and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
Next is a stop at Reynisfjara black sand beach, with the Reynisdrangar rock formations and columnar basalt. It is one of the most spectacular beaches in Iceland but can be quite dangerous due to powerful sneaker waves, and we kindly ask our guests not to go too close to the ocean and follow all guidelines. Last is a stop by Sólheimajökull glacier and walk up to a small lake that has formed in front of the retreating glacier.
Day 4. Depart Reykjavik
This bucket list Iceland vacation has sadly come to an end. Take your transfer to the airport, board your flight home, and reminisce on memories of this unforgettable getaway.
