Northern Lights Boat Tour
Hunting the northern lights from ground is an amazing experience, but to sail out from the coast and see the auroras dancing above the city lights is a remarkable sight – and a totally different experience. That is exactly what is being offered in this new northern lights tour:
In this approximately 2 1/2 hour long tour, you´ll take a trip from the Reykjavik pier to witness the coastline of the capital. You will be taken far enough so the city lights will not affect the chances of seeing the northern lights, but yet you will always have the city as the background view. Now, that's an amazing sight – and also a very romantic one! When the northern lights forecast looks good - but it is too windy to go out on sea - we will still take you out for a northern lights tour on a bus - plus a chance to join our boat tour on the next available day!
If the tour does not operate at all (boat or bus) during your stay due to unfavorable weather conditions, you can exchange your ticket/voucher with one of the following options*:
• A Whale Watching Tour
• The Fish Adventure menu at Kopar, one of the most popular restaurants in Reykjavik, starting with a welcome drink
• Or a full refund. (*All options cost the same amount or more as your northern lights by boat ticket).
If you join the tour (boat or bus) and there are no sightings you will get another ticket to join us on the next available day.
Day 2. Reykjavik - Fludir
The Golden Circle: Thingvellir, Gullfoss, Geysir
Today, visit the must-see sites in Iceland! Start with Thingvellir National Park (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), famous for its history and geological wonders, located by Iceland's largest lake, Lake Thingvallavatn. The beautiful canyon running through the park is actually the meeting point of two of the earth’s tectonic plates.
Then move onwards to the majestic Gullfoss Waterfall, formed by the waters of a glacial river – where you’ll see thousands of tons of icy water thunder majestically down in double falls into a deep canyon.
Continue to the Geysir hot spring area where bubbling hot springs and geysers are abundant. Here you'll find also Strokkur, the most active geyser in the area, spouting up to 80-100 feet!
Approximate driving distance: 118 milesCheck-in - Icelandair Hotel Fludir

Day 3. Fludir - Vik
Eyjafjallajokull & Surroundings
Drive along the scenic south shore and across the area around the infamous Eyjafjallajokull stratovolcano. Travel onward, viewing the beautiful Skogarfoss and Seljalandsfoss Waterfalls, the black-sand beaches around Vik, and the Myrdalsjokull Glacier. You'll then stop in the charming village of Vik for an overnight stay.
