I had a perfect trip to South Africa, after having it on my bucket list for 15 years. I traveled alone, so having the flights, transportation, and hotels arranged for me was one less thing to worry about. The Southern Sun Cullinan in Cape Town was beautiful, the breakfast was plentiful, and the staff were very helpful if I needed anything. The hotel was in a good location, within walking distance of the waterfront and the Watershed.
Next, I went to the Shepherd's Tree Lodge at Pilanesberg National Park, which was an amazing experience. As soon as I got out of the car and they presented a welcome beverage and quick service, I knew it would be good. The safari drivers were all kind and helpful, and I had a great experience, seeing nearly all of the animals I had hoped to see. The food was amazing at the lodge, having several vegetarian and vegan choices. The room was beautiful, sherry was provided every night, the turndown service was a nice touch, and the outdoor shower was incredible. I didn't want to leave!
Finally, I spent my last night in Johannesberg in the Sandton Sun, which again, was a 5 star hotel. I found a great Greek restaurant within walking distance at the Nelson Mandela square. I didn't walk around the adjacent mall much, as shopping isn't my thing, and the prices were just as expensive as the states.
Overall, GVV did a phenomenal job of arranging all of the aspects of my trip, and I have no concerns or complaints. I would use them again when traveling and would highly recommend them to others. In fact, I had a friend who traveled with Collette tours (which is notoriously more expensive) and she stayed at the same hotels as GVV arranged, so clearly they have a pulse on what is nice!
