Oh, Scotland! It’s no secret that this country is filled with stunning landscapes and incredible beauty that doesn’t seem real until you actually see it with your own eyes.

If you want to see some of the most beautiful places in Scotland, we’ve compiled a list right here for you! These routes cover places like Aberdeen, Inverness, Stirling, and more.


Angus Coastal Route: Dunee to Aberdeen

This drive will take you along the east coast linking Dundee and Aberdeen, providing stunning scenery filled with charismatic towns in the countryside, brilliant nature landscapes, and more. The Grampian Mountains are to the west and offer incredible views and photo opportunities. As you drive north, you'll pass by the North Sea which glitters under the sun. Some places you should stop explore along the way include The Dundee Science Center, Broughty Ferry Castle, and Barry Mill.


Highland Tourists Route: Aberdeen to Inverness

If you've taken the Angus Coastal Route and ended up in Aberdeen, why not get back in the car and enjoy more of the beauty of Scotland? The Highland Tourist Route will take you from Aberdeen to Inverness, through the magical Scottish Highlands. Soak up the stunning scenery of Cairngorms National Park, ancient castles, and the Culloden Battlefield along the way. Take a break from driving and perhaps visit one of the museums along the route such as Gordon Highlanders Museum or Grantown Museum.


Forth Valley Tourist Route: Edinburgh to Stirling

The Forth Valley Tourist Route will take you through some of the most popular attractions in Scotland along with towns that are brimming with history. You will pass by World Heritage Sites such as the Forth Bridge and the Antonine wall. Stop off and explore the Linlithgow Palace or the Blackness Castle.


Argyll Coastal Route

This scenic passage will take you from the sparkling blue banks of Loch Lomond through the Western Highlands. You'll be able to spot the famous fairytale-like castle in Inveraray and admire the pure beauty of the coastal scenery. This will take you all the way to the small town of Oban, also known as the seafood capital of Scotland. Park your car and grab some of the freshest, most delicious seafood you will ever have!


North Coast 500

This journey is commonly known as "Scotland's Route 66" and should definitely be at the top of your European bucket list. On this drive, you'll see many incredible landscapes filled with magnificent mountains and beautiful castles. Your drive will take you through Inverness, Ross, Cromarty, Sutherland, and Caithness. If you decide you'd like to take a break from driving and want to see some sights, consider stopping by Dunrobin Castle, The Whaligoe Steps, or Achmelvich Bay where you can visit some beautiful sandy beaches.


Glasgow to Inveraray

Start your drive from Glasgow to Inveraray at the stunning shorelines of Loch Lomond. You'll see incredible mountains like the Arrochar Alps shortly before you reach the Rest and Be Thankful Pass. Take a driving break and pull over at the viewpoint for photos of the breathtaking scenery that surrounds you. Feeling hungry?
