Day 1. Welcome to Ireland!
Arrive in Dublin and pick up your car at the rental area. Today you will make your way to Cavan, just a one hour drive from the airport.
Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure and soak up the spirit of the area. Treat yourself to a delicious first-night meal and celebrate with a pint!Â

Day 2. Cavan
Cavan is the ideal base from which to explore this beautiful area, known as "Ireland's Hidden Heartlands."Â You're not far from Boyne Valley, home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Newgrange - the ancient neolithic monument that dates back before Stonehenge and Egypt's Pyramid of Giza!Â
Also nearby is the medieval town of Drogheda, which is rich in heritage and home to many unique attractions, including a heritage trail that loops through some of the ancient sites, within the old walls. And if you'd like to spend some time in Dublin, you can park your car in Drogheda and take the train into the city for the day!
Day 3. Cavan - Roscommon
Today, you'll drive south to Roscommon. You may want to check out Roscommon Castle. Later, consider heading to Lough Key Forest, home to scenic bridges, 12th-century abbey ruins, and other historical and natural wonders.Â
