Day 1. Welcome to Bogota!
Arrive in Bogota and enjoy a comfortable transfer from the airport to your Bogota accommodation. The rest of the day is yours to spend at leisure.
Start your Colombian adventure by treating yourself to a culinary feast of local specialties! Try a tamale wrapped in banana leaves, nibble on arepas, and end on a sweet note with a serving of arroz con coco (coconut rice pudding).

Day 2. Bogota
After a hearty breakfast, embark on your city tour! You'll then have the rest of the afternoon at leisure.
Enjoy a stroll through one of the city's many (over 5,200) lush parks, or soak up some culture at a museum or two. In the evening, head to town for a taste of the city's vibrant nightlife.
Bogota city tour (half-day)
The Bogota city tour will start at Paloquemao, the famous food market located in the heart of the city. Once you enter the market, you will smell, see and be surprised by exotic fruits, vegetables, herbs, seafood and meat. Take a break at one of the simple but delicious food stands and try a fresh juice or one of the typical meals of this region. Early in the morning you will find a beautiful flower market in front.
After the market, take a walk through ‘La Candelaria’, Bogota's historical neighborhood. A pleasant quarter of cobble stoned streets, Spanish colonial architecture, and Baroque churches, the neighborhood is also home to several universities, libraries and museums. Walk across the main square Plaza Bolivar as you pass various government buildings, then visit one of a dozen milliners along Calle San Miguel to get an idea of how hats are made.
Pass by the Fernando Botero Museum, which holds a large collection of works from the well-known Colombian painter and sculptor, on your way to the Gold Museum. The museum contains nearly 34,000 gold pieces plus a further 20,000 bone, stone, ceramic, and textile articles belonging to 13 Pre-Hispanic societies.
Day 3. Bogota
Today embark on a full-day tour of Colombia's picturesque countryside. You'll see a breathtaking salt cathedral, a volcanic lake, and even Colombia's largest dairy store!
Full-day Zipaquira and Guatavita Tour, with lunch
Your full-day of countryside discovery starts on a scenic drive from Bogota - via the fertile plateau - to Zipaquira. You'll visit the enchanting underground salt cathedral, carved by the hands of a miner. This wonder is an impressive 394 ft long, and over 8,500 square feet. Inside, you'll find monumental crosses, angels, and a breathtaking Madonna statue. In addition to the main cathedral, there are small chapels and Stations of the Cross; its 14 stations are interconnected through labyrinthine tunnels.
Next, you'll drive up to over 9,840 feet to the entrance of the legendary lagoon of Guatavita. According to the legend, every young ruler of the Muisca (a Chibcha tribe) brought a sacrifice to the sun god of the lagoon. Walk the path surrounding the lagoon before heading to the town of Sopo, home to Alpina, Colombia's largest dairy factory. In Alpina's store, sample cheeses, desserts, and drinks, then enjoy a delicious typical lunch of Colombian cuisine.
Day 4. Bogota - Cartagena
Fly to Cartagena this morning! Unwind at your next hotel, then spend the rest of the day exploring at your own pace.
Perhaps you'd like to head into the old town, where you can get lost in the dreamy cobblestone streets. Cartagena's coastal location means fresh seafood, and lots of it. Choose from one of the many restaurants and treat yourself to a freshly-caught bite.

Day 5. Cartagena
Your day will start with a tour of the city's most iconic highlights. You'll then have the rest of the day to explore at leisure.
Cartagena is Colombia's culinary capital, so tonight, treat yourself to a meal worth celebrating. Make your way to the vibrant neighborhood of Centro, where you'll find the finest eateries and bars waiting to be experienced.
Cartagena city tour (half-day)
Cartagena has as many stories to tell as its streets in the old quarter has names, and today you will visit the highlights of “La Heroica” (the Heroic city – name gave to the Cartagena during the times of the Colony). Begin at the fortress of San Felipe de Barajas, a masterpiece of engineering and military strategy built by the Spaniards to defend the city from pirates and pillagers. Despite several attempts to storm it, the fortress was never taken.
Then continue walking around the walled colonial city where narrow streets and vine-draped balconies will take you back in time. End your tour with a visit to the Convent of San Pedro Claver, a monumental three-story building that is considered one of the jewels of the Spanish colonial architecture.
Day 6. Depart Colombia
Enjoy one final transfer to the airport in accordance with your flight home.
